🛑 Beware of the New Parking Bans at Capo Caccia (2026 Rules)
Forget the old habits: it is no longer possible to park your car in the Capo Caccia square (the old parking spots have been removed), and it is strictly forbidden to park along the panoramic road. The Municipal Police constantly patrol the area and enforce the ban with heavy fines.
Furthermore, so as not to hinder the transit of the scheduled buses (which connect Alghero with a frequency of about 30 minutes), there is an absolute transit ban for campers (motorhomes).
On the Capo Caccia promontory, you will exclusively find:
Parking reserved for disabled people.
A small bar for refreshments.
The ticket offices for access to Neptune's Grotto and the Grotta Verde (Green Cave).
🚌 The Quick Solution: Parking at Casa Gioiosa and the "Caves Shuttle" Every 10 Minutes
To reach the entrance comfortably and without risking fines, the official solution is to use the Grotte Caves Shuttle (managed by Autolinee Cottogno), which runs back and forth from Cala Tramariglio to Capo Caccia. The service is very fast and efficient, with departures every 10 minutes.

- Shuttle Cost: 5 euros per person (round trip).
- Discounts and Payments: There are discounts for families and younger children (ask the driver directly when boarding). You can easily buy the ticket on board, using either cash or a card (POS).
🏛️ Not Just Caves: The Prison Memory Museum and Included Attractions
Arriving at Casa Gioiosa a bit ahead of your shuttle time is a strategic move. We strongly recommend booking your tickets for the Caves in advance online, because depending on the ticket purchased (Grotta Verde and/or Neptune's Grotto), you will have entry included to an entire circuit of museums and nature explorations.
Right at Casa Gioiosa (where you left your car), you can visit the incredible Prison Memory Museum (Museo della Memoria Carceraria). Set up inside the old cells of the former Tramariglio agricultural penal colony (now the headquarters of the Porto Conte Park), it tells the story of the harsh daily life of the past. The museum is highly modern and designed to engage: teenagers will love the interactive activities, being able to emulate the moment of "mugshots" or attempt an acrobatic simulation of escape by avoiding touching infrared rays! Both require significant physical effort. Accessing Neptune's Grotto by land involves walking down the fascinating but tiring "Escala del Cabirol" (over 600 steps carved into the cliff overlooking the sea). Access to the Grotta Verde also requires good physical commitment.
An important note on the Grotta Verde: Although it is an extremely fascinating place, rich in history and particular formations, you should know in advance that the safe path created for the public does not lead to the famous underground Green Lake, which is unfortunately unreachable.
