Staying at Villa Malvasio? Discover how to organize the best Wine Tours between Alghero and Usini. From summer sunsets in the vineyards to the grape harvest!

If you follow our blog, you already know that North-West Sardinia is a real "golden triangle" for wine lovers. But now that the beautiful season has arrived and you are finally our guests at Villa Malvasio, it's time to move from theory to practice!

From June until the end of October, the local wineries offer different but equally exciting spectacles: summer brings walks among the rows of vines and sunsets with aperitifs, while autumn brings the unparalleled charm of the grape harvest (vendemmia), the warm colors of the vineyards, and the scent of must in the air. It is the ideal time for those seeking a more relaxed, authentic, and "slow" vacation.

Here is our practical guide to booking and experiencing 3 unmissable Wine Tours, whether you come in August or October.

1. Sella & Mosca (Alghero): The Historic Tour and the Buzz of Autumn

We have already spoken about it as a giant of oenology. Their "Tour & Tasting" within the 19th-century estate is one of the most requested experiences in all of Sardinia, especially in summer. But it is between September and October that the estate (one of the largest single-body vineyards in Europe) transforms: you can witness the coming and going of tractors and breathe the buzz of the harvest of the prized Torbato grape.

  • Villa Malvasio's practical advice: In summer, places sell out quickly, so it is essential to book online well in advance (perhaps choosing the late afternoon to avoid the heat). In autumn, the atmosphere becomes more intimate, and the temperatures are perfect for strolling through vineyards that turn red and gold.

2. Santa Maria La Palma (Alghero): Sunsets at the Port and the Colors of Nurra

You already know the magic of their Akènta Sub, the sparkling wine aged at the bottom of the sea. If you visit their main headquarters in the Nurra region in autumn, you will be surrounded by the warm colors of the Sardinian earth preparing to rest.

  • Villa Malvasio's practical advice: If in summer, after a long day at the beach, you don't feel like driving to the vineyards, there is a super chic alternative. The winery has opened "La Cantina - Enoteca e Degustazione" in Via Don Minzoni, right in front of the Alghero marina. It is the perfect place for an aperitif: order a glass of ice-cold Akènta, watch the yachts, and enjoy the sea breeze before dinner, whether on a warm July evening or a mild October sunset.

3. Vinicola Cherchi (Usini): Face to Face with the "Father" of Cagnulari

In spring we recommended the excellent Chessa and Carpante wineries to discover Usini. Today we complete our tribute to this wonderful village by inviting you to cross the doors of Cantina Cherchi. This is a must-stop for those seeking authenticity. Giovanni Maria Cherchi is the man who, decades ago, believed in and relaunched Cagnulari, saving this native red grape variety from extinction.

  • Villa Malvasio's practical advice: Unlike the large estates, here the welcome has the warmth of a Sardinian family. Visiting in autumn means immersing yourself in the most sacred time of the year: the harvest of red grapes. The tastings (where you can also taste the award-winning Vermentino Tuvaoes) are intimate and well-cared for. We advise you to call a couple of days in advance to arrange the visit.
👉 Find the contacts on their official website: Vinicola Cherchi

Returning to Villa Malvasio: The Sommelier's "Cool Down"

The beauty of using Villa Malvasio as your personal Wine Resort is the location. Whichever winery you choose, it will only take you a few minutes by car to return to your room. Our advice to end the day? Leave your newly purchased bottles in the minibar, take a regenerating shower, and wait for the evening in our garden. No crowded restaurants, no queues: just you, the silence of the Sardinian countryside, and your new favorite wine to sip under the summer stars or in the cool embrace of autumn.

👉 Organize your tasting itinerary: Check availability and book your room at Villa Malvasio.
