Stressed tourist at a computer with his head in his hands, surrounded by thought bubbles and doubts about planning a holiday in Northern Sardinia.

First time in Northern Sardinia? 2026 local FAQ guide: ferries, secure parking, windless beaches, EV charging and tips to avoid scams.

Turista stressato al computer, con la testa tra le mani, circondato da nuvole di dubbi su come organizzare le vacanze nel Nord Sardegna.

Too many options and a thousand doubts? Don't panic! Ferries at dawn, fear of the Mistral wind, anxiety about online scams, and the eternal dilemma of where to set up your base camp... Planning your first holiday in Sardinia can seem like a desperate mission. But take a deep breath: with our true Local FAQ Guide, you will finally have all the clear answers and zero stress!

Welcome! If you are planning your trip to Northern Sardinia for 2026, you probably have a lot of questions about ferries, logistics, costs, and safety. I’ve lived here all my life and host travelers year-round: here are the honest answers to the questions everyone asks, with no tourist traps.

1. Where is the best place to make my basecamp?
The most common mistake is booking right in the center of a small coastal village. During the day, you risk spending hours in traffic just to move around, while at night you will have to deal with the chaos of the nightlife: in historic centers and along the coast, bars and clubs play loud music until 3 or 4 AM. The smartest move is to choose Sassari as a strategic hub. You stay peacefully inland, immediately connected to the main highways, and only 20 minutes away from destinations like Alghero or Castelsardo.

2. Ferries at Porto Torres arrive at dawn. How should I organize? Disembarking at 6 AM when everything is closed can be exhausting. My advice is to arrange this in advance with your host. At our B&B, we know how tiring the journey is: that’s why we offer solutions for early breakfasts and allow guests to drop off luggage or relax by the pool while the room is being prepared.

3. I am traveling with a car or trailer. Is street parking safe?
Sardinia is generally a peaceful island, but leaving a loaded vehicle on the street won't let you sleep soundly. Always look for accommodations with a private courtyard. If you choose our "base camp", you’ll have access to a large fenced parking lot, perfect even for stress-free parking of motorcycle or boat trailers.

4. I drive an electric vehicle (EV). Will I find chargers easily?
Public infrastructure is improving, but in mid-summer, finding an available and working public charger can waste half your beach day. The trick is to charge "at home" overnight. To avoid this stress for our guests, we installed 3 internal charging stations (up to 9kW) at Villa Malvasio, so your car charges while you sleep.

5. What should I do in the evening after the beach?
As mentioned, coastal towns are often crowded and loud at night. Many travelers prefer the peace of the countryside. Returning to a quiet villa, taking a sunset dip in the pool, or regenerating in a suite with a private hot tub is the real secret to recharging your batteries for the next adventure.

6. What if the Mistral wind ruins my beach day?
Everyone dreams of La Pelosa and Alghero. But if the wind blows hard, don't stay locked in your room! The coastline is jagged: you just need to drive a few miles to find calm, crystal-clear coves. Check out my guide to wind-sheltered beaches.

7. Is Sardinia really that expensive? How do I avoid scams?
It depends on how you travel. Read my guide on real costs and insider money-saving tips. However, pay very close attention to the scams involving fake holiday rental websites. Protect your money by booking on official sites. To give you peace of mind, we offer the BeSafe Insured Rate, refunding up to 100% in case of unexpected cancellations.

8. I want to discover the true Sardinian soul beyond the beaches.
There is a world to explore. You can take a wild excursion to the former prison-island of Asinara, experience the best scuba diving, or dive into history with my secret archaeological itinerary. If you travel during 2026, don't miss authentic events like the Cavalcata Sarda, Festha Manna, or the spectacular Descent of the Candelieri.
